What is "the surgery"?
"the surgery" doesn't exist, as uninformed cisgender people conceptualize of it. There is no one surgery where you go under with every trait of one sex and leave with every trait of another. The three main types of gender-affirming surgery are bottom surgery (altering the genital area), top surgery (altering the chest area), and facial feminization/masculinization surgery (altering the face).
